Creative Consulting for Independent Brands

Creative consulting at Echo Studio is a senior second opinion, on call. Book a one-on-one creative call, send a voice note, or get a recorded video walkthrough of your work, and you get direct feedback from a creative director without hiring a full agency. It is built for founders and small teams who are already making things and need someone to tell them what is working, what is not, and what to do next.

What does a creative consultant actually do?

A creative consultant looks at your brand, content or website from the outside and helps you make better creative decisions. Not by taking the work off your hands, but by sharpening it. That might mean reviewing a launch before it goes live, untangling why your content feels off-brand, or helping you brief a designer properly so you stop paying for revisions.

The value is perspective. When you are inside your own brand every day, it is hard to see what a stranger sees in three seconds.

What our creative consulting covers

  • One-on-one creative callsFocused sessions on a specific problem: a launch, a rebrand, a content direction, a site that is not converting
  • Voice note and video feedbackSend your work, get a recorded walkthrough back. Useful when schedules do not line up across time zones
  • Creative direction on your projectsOngoing direction across content, visuals and web, so everything moves in the same direction
  • Briefing supportHelp writing briefs for designers, developers or content teams, so the people you hire build the right thing first time
  • Launch and campaign reviewsA final check before something goes public

Freelance creative direction, without the agency overhead

Sometimes you do not need a whole studio. You need a creative director for a few hours a month who understands brand, content, UX and code, and can tell you honestly where the gaps are.

That is the role we play. We have directed brand, content and web work for coaches, educators, NGOs and contemplative education platforms, and because we also design and build, the direction is practical. We know what a decision costs to execute, not just how it looks on a moodboard.

Who creative consulting is for

  • Founders and solo creators who make their own content and want a sharper eye on it
  • Small teams with designers or writers but no creative lead
  • Brands mid-launch or mid-rebrand who need a steady second opinion
  • Anyone who has had agency work that looked good but did not feel like them

Not for: people looking for someone to agree with every idea. The point of a consultant is honest feedback. We will be kind about it, but we will not pretend something works when it does not.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between creative consulting and hiring an agency?
An agency does the work for you. A creative consultant helps you and your team do the work better. Consulting is lighter, cheaper and faster to start, and you keep full ownership of your brand and process.
What is the difference between a creative consultant and a creative director?
A creative consultant usually advises on specific problems or moments. A creative director leads the creative vision over time. Echo Studio does both: single calls for a quick perspective, and ongoing direction when you need someone steering.
Can we work across time zones?
Yes. Echo Studio is based in Jakarta and works with clients across Asia Pacific, Europe and the US. Voice note and video walkthroughs exist because live calls are not always practical.
What should I prepare before a creative call?
Whatever you want feedback on, plus a sentence on what you are trying to achieve. Links, drafts, screenshots or rough notes are all fine.
Can a creative call turn into a bigger project?
It can, but it does not have to. If the call shows a bigger gap, we will suggest the right next step, whether that is brand strategy, a UX audit, or nothing at all.
